Workshop #207): Structural-functional correlates of neurofeedback
This workshop is intended to describe sensory and motor systems that are involved in cortical and subcortical brain regions affected by neurofeedback. First, we will examine thalamo-cortical and cortico-thalamic modules which form the basis for the electrophysiological recording seen with EEG. Next we will follow connections to and from cortical modules as they link to various sites of the brain and spinal cord. The functional compartmentalization seen in the different lobes of the brain will be described as well as their vascular supply. The latter will relate to those using HEG. Connectivities between gyri, lobules and lobes will be emphasized in order to understand how neurofeedback has an effect far distant to electrode placements. Excellent visuals should impart a 3-dimensional understanding of brain structures.
